Mastering Sitting
Daddy Time
Since Jordan starts work so early (6:30am) he is able to get home earlier so he can spend time playing with Griffin before bed. He does not really like to lay down much. He now rolls over everytime you put him on his back. He much prefers to sit or stand, I am talking about Griffin not Jordan.Sunday, September 28, 2008
Graduation & New Discoveries
Griffin has now outgrown the kitchen sink and has graduated to the big-boy bathtub! The first bath was not met with great excitement, but now he takes every opportunity to kick his feet and splash. He has not really taken to the little yellow duck that is in the water with him, but he does love the noises that we make up above.
Getting dressed after a bath, or any diaper change for that matter, has turned into an opportunity to wiggle around. It is often our favourite time of the day when we can giggle together.
Griffin is now at the stage where everything goes in the mouth. I often come into his room in the morning and there he is with his hands in his mouth, trying to say good morning.
Griffin is now keeping his head much better, so we have graduated to tummy time with a roll. He enjoys tummy time much more! He will now reach for things while on his tummy and has started pushing with his feet to move forward. Apparently, he is trying to skip learning how to sit up and going straight to crawling. Figures!
Griffin was given this sock monkey jack-in-the-box as a gift. He does not yet jump when the monkey comes out of the box, but he loves the hair on the monkey's head and the sound of my nails on the metal box.
We still get out for our walks in the morning, and most afternoons as well, but now in the morning we must bundle up. This sweater that my aunt in Scotland made is just what we need.

Bath Times
Active Little Boy
August 29th, 2008

Griffin is responding to facial expressions. He loves the sound of whistles and tongue clicking. He is more animated every day.
August 16th, 2006

Since Griffin never sleeps, and I can not entertain him all the time (I do have to eat), we bought him this mobile and he will play with this on his own for 30 minutes! His hand-eye coordination is really coming along and he squeals in delight as he smacks all the ornaments.

Griffin and I still have our time on the floor doing our exercises. He is not a big fan of tummy time, although he is showing progress in lifting his head up. His head support is coming - it is steady but at times still a little wobbly.

There is still lots of time for cuddles after our exercises. We hang out reading books and exploring new sounds and faces. He is copying facial expressions and sounds. He gets very excited at the new noises and loves playing with his voice.

One of the advantages of having a baby in the summer is being able to walk in the sunshine. We try to get out at least once a day and now he enjoys the time in the stroller. He does fall asleep but wakes up as soon as I stop.
Griffin does not sleep in his crib during the day, but I can not complain if he will sleep in it at night. The only place he will sleep is in his swing. He will often fall asleep while feeding, but quickly wakes up when I put him in the swing, as he did here.
Non-stop Visitors
July 8th, 2008

Auntie Carmen is fast becoming our most frequent visitor, despite living in Edmonton. Although the trips to Vancouver are for other events, she always makes time to visit. On this day, she stopped by for lunch for an hour with her daughter Mira. Griffin loves his Auntie Carmen.

Griffin met his Uncle Peter (Tracy's brother) for the first time. Peter made the trip out from Montreal. Griffin instantly took to Peter, he is a very good bouncer.
One last picture before Peter flew to Regina for a wedding. Peter did not want to leave Griffin behind. I had to remind Peter that the plane would leave without him. He promised that it would not be another 4 years before he returned to Vancouver.
Nana is back! Jordan went on yet another fishing trip - it was a great excuse to fly nana out for a visit. What a big help she was. We planted flowers in the garden, went for walks, hung out with Griffin. Griffin slept thru the night for the first time while nana was here. He had 2 consecutive nights in a row. I forgot how nice it was to sleep thru the night.
My new garden. Jordan is a great job building the flower box. August 23rd
Auntie Carmen returns! This time she decided to bring Jacek with her. I am not sure how she convinced Jacek to cut a hiking trip to Banff short and make the 10 hour drive to come and see us, but we were happy she did. Griffin reconnected with Carmen and met Jacek for the first time. We hit all of Jacek's favourite Vancouver places - Planet Veg, Granville Island donuts and Yoshi's for sushi. Griffin and I tagged along and spent an afternoon at the beach eating our Planet Veg.
Jordan's dad, grampa, also came for a visit, although I do not have any recent pictures. He came to help Jordan re-tile the shower in our main bathroom. They did a fantastic job!Tuesday, July 22, 2008
Discovering his Surroundings
Griffin is now focusing on the objects around him and is discovering more and more around him. He spends a lot of time in his swing, mostly because he will not sleep in his crib during the day. I am not complaining since he sleeps in his crib at night.
